A Nice Milestone

I learned recently that Tyndale House just completed a 15th printing of my book INTO THE DEEP, which I co-authored with Robert Rogers and was published in 2007.

into the deep

They had modest goals for this book about how Rogers suffered a devastating loss—the deaths of his wife and four children in a flash flood on the Kansas Turnpike in 2003—and relied on his faith to carry him through those dark days. To say we surpassed those goals would be a significant understatement.

I’m humbled and grateful people are still interested in reading about Robert and his family. That flood still comes up several times a year in conversations with readers. They can’t believe it happened or that Robert survived. For what it’s worth, Robert can’t believe he survived, either. For the longest time, he wished he would have died along with the rest of his family. But I think this book and the life he has built in the years since are testimony to God having more for him to do.

jacob creekJacob Creek is normally a sleepy rivulet in the Flint Hills of Kansas, but torrential rains transformed it into a raging wall of water on Labor Day weekend in 2003, killing 6 people—including 5 members of the same family.
